THEOFANIS KAVVADAS

Theofanis Kavvadas is a freelance cinematographer, based in Helsinki, Finland. His latest cinematography work includes an arthouse feature Once Upon a Time in Sad Hill (2019) with director Rax Rinnekangas and Äitipuoli (2022), a sci-fi short film by Finnish director Joakim Pusenius.

Theofanis has also been shooting documentaries, lensing social and political issues in several short doc series directed by Sami Kieksi, of which Logged In (2020) won two Venla awards. Theofanis is now working on Snowball effect, a documentary feature about democracy in northern Finland. The film is directed by Pauliina Punkki and has its theatrical release at the end of 2022.

In addition to cinematography, Theofanis has written and directed two short films and is in pre-production of his third, called Three, which is expected to be shot in the fall of 2022.

Theofanis has a Bachelor of Arts degree in cinematography from Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and he is a self-taught photographer. In his spare time, Theofanis goes bouldering, plays with his son, and cooks pasta.
